Fox to spend $1.5m promoting FX, 7,000 zombies to descend on cities

The reintroduction of the FX channel to Australia after an eight-year absence, reported by Encore this week, will be backed by an $1.5m advertising push, Fox has told Mumbrella.

(As part of the launch, a team of zombies has been visiting agencies and also dropped into Mumbrella’s office:)

PR and digital will be the focal point of activity. Billboards, bus wraps and cinema advertising will run in support.Trade marketing activity will be followed by a consumer ad offensive in the lead up to Christmas, based around the male-skewed channel’s flagship show, The Walking Dead.

A series of stunts involving zombies are expected to see up to 7,000 ‘walking dead’ descend on targeted locations in key cities.

“Our aim is for FX to be the number one channel on FoxTel within our first year,” said Jerry Butterfield, marketing and creative director of Fox International Channels.

FX is using marketing agency The Shop and Gas Bag PR.
