Foxtel signs new cricket deal for broadcast and streaming

Foxtel Group has announced a new broadcast and streaming cricket deal, doubling down on its commitment to the sport.

In the lead up to its biggest ‘Summer of Cricket’ ever, the deal will see Foxtel and Kayo Sports broadcast and stream multiple domestic cricket matches and series including the new Women’s Domestic T20 Competition and Women’s National Cricket League, the Sheffield Shield, the Marsh One Day Cup, and Men and Women’s Aus A matches, the Prime Minister’s XI match, and the Women’s Governor-General’s XI match.

Subscribers will therefore be able to engage with varying levels and formats of cricket, from local to the elite.

“The upcoming ‘Summer of Cricket’ on Foxtel and Kayo Sports is going to be an absolute cracker, with hundreds of hours of cricket available for our subscribers to enjoy,” said Foxtel Group’s director of content acquisitions and sports partnerships, Adam Howarth.

“This new deal champions Australian cricket, from pathways to elite, ensuring viewers can discover and enjoy talent and competitions across different levels and formats, and continues our commitment to working with our sporting partners to increase visibility and grow engagement and fandom.”

Foxtel Group will also make the Marsh One Day Cup available to watch live and free on Kayo Freebies, continuing its commitment to championing sports at all levels.

The group also recently recommitted to AFLW, launching a new show via a partnership with Medibank.

Airing on both Foxtel and Kayo Sports, ‘AFLW on Fox’ will provide viewers with a breakdown of the latest AFLW rounds in addition to discussing topics crucial to the league. Prolific AFLW journalist, Lauren Wood will co-host the show alongside sports commentator Kelli Underwood, and a rotating panel of guest hosts.

It comes shortly after Foxtel announced it would withdraw from TV ratings agency OzTAM’s measurement data from the end of the year.

This decision affects key datasets, including VOZ for Total TV and VPM (video player measurement), marking a significant shift in how the subscription service’s viewership will be tracked.

“Foxtel linear TV will continue to be plagued with the same instabilities in audience reporting, should we remain under the new VOZ measurement system,” Mark Frain, CEO of Foxtel Media told Mumbrella last month.

“We are not being contrary for the sake of it, we are leveraging the data we have available to partner with a global business with experience of delivering a new and authenticated standard of reporting for premium digital video.

“We have been working hard to ensure we are in the best position to begin trading using Kantar as our official currency in 2025. A new measurement solution we have proudly stood up in just 12 months, with more to be announced at our upfront in three weeks time. Watch this space.”
