Seven’s advertising revenue just ahead of Nine’s in second half of 2013

Seven and Nine had an almost equal share of ad spend last year with Seven taking 39.74 per cent as Nine had 38.74 per cent, figures released by Free TV Australia today show.

According to the figures, Ten had a 21.52 per cent share of the advertising revenue.

The report of advertising spend in commercial TV networks between July and December last year shows advertising revenue overall grew by more than five per cent across the five cities to $1.603bn.The year on year comparison shows Sydney recorded the biggest increase of 6.85 per cent to take gross advertising revenue of just under $599m. And state revenue was also up by 3.91 per cent to total more than $2.071 bn across the country.

In the regions there was modest growth of 0.31 per cent with Queensland bringing the revenue up from a possible decline.

Ad spend in regional Queensland grew by 3.46 per cent as it dropped off in all other states and territories but regional New South Wales where it just missed decline by recording an increase of 0.1 per cent.

Regional South Australia had the biggest drop in advertising revenue of 2.39 per cent.
