Fresh FM announces new chair and commercial manager

Adelaide’s community radio station, Fresh 92.7 has announced the appointment of its new chair, George Fiacchi.

The announcement:

A true South Australian champion, George Fiacchi is a seven-time Port Adelaide Magpies premiership player and leading Australian business and media consultant. George was the general manager for Mix102.3 and Cruise1323 and oversaw their growth as the first ARN-owned stations to become No 1 in ratings and No 1 in commercial sales.

In addition to his experience in the media, George has served across a collection of South Australia’s more prominent boards, including at the Port Adelaide Football Club from 2013 – 2019, Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation 2010 – 2015 and SA Great / Advantage SA 2008 – 2011.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to be the chair of Fresh92.7.” Said George Fianchi of his appointment as Fresh 92.7 Chair.

“After 13 years managing the team at the Australian Radio Network, radio gets in your blood, I love the passion, the listeners, the clients, the team and the dynamic environment that is unique to radio.

“I have been getting my radio fix working with the Fresh team for the past 3 years, I’ve seen firsthand the great work they do developing Adelaide’s youth talent and focusing on the local community. I’m looking forward to working with the board to continue the great work that Fresh is performing on and off
air and using my knowledge to help guide the fantastic youth talent at the station.”

George joins the Fresh 97.2board as its chair at an opportune time for the growing platform, and Fresh 92.7’s executive manager Darren Pike, said that the station is excited to welcome George to the team as he helps drive Fresh into the future.

“He comes to us with a wealth of experience running his own companies and heading up ARN locally for nearly 10 years at one of its most successful periods. With his passion and dedication to Community Radio and Fresh in particular over the past 3 years, he will be a very valued Chairperson to our organisation for the future.

“We also thank outgoing chair Jessie Mattner for her support, in particular with completing our next phase of our Strategic Plan and completion of our Licence Renewal”.

Also announced today is the appointment of Fresh 92.7’s new commercial manager, Simon Dennis, who takes over responsibility for the growth of Fresh’s commercial sales department. Simon Joins Fresh 92.7 with a suite of business acumen, including as the NSW group commercial director for Crocmedia (now Sports Entertainment Network), ARN and most recently as the general manager commercial & operations of Adelaide Footy League.
