Full program for Mumbrella CommsCon 2024 announced
To wrap up the full program for Mumbrella CommsCon 2024, the final two sessions – one focusing on the volatile topic of ‘wokeism’, and the other on how public relations can evolve in a Gen Z-run world – have been announced.
With the new-age saying “go woke, go broke” continuing to incite thought pieces and sometimes vicious debates online, there’s always been a question of whether brands should embrace the idea of wokeism or keep it at arm’s length.
The session ‘Is Woke Really Broke? What Comms Pros Need to Know About “Wokeism” in 2024’ will tackle the subject head-on, with a distinct focus on the present day communications industry.
Led by Hannah Moreno, founder and managing director of 2023 CommsCon Awards PR Agency of the Year – Boutique/Small winner, Third Hemisphere, the session will answer the questions of when, and how, society will evolve to become more inclusive of minority groups.

Hannah Moreno
And with this as a foundation, the PR expert – who has been at the helm of Third Hemisphere for close to a decade – will provide solutions for how communications professionals can develop materials that appeal to the masses, regardless of where they sit on the spectrum, politically and socially.
Moreno’s talk will be split into two sections, with part two seeing last year’s PR Professional of the Year winner joined onstage by Jeremy Liddle, Third Hemisphere’s executive director, for an in-depth chat on what the public relations sector needs to know about today’s woke culture.
Meanwhile, Rob Lowe, the managing director and co-founder of creative communications and PR agency, Poem, is locked in to speak in on the influence Gen Z has on the current and future PR landscape.
‘Gen Z Culture Shapers: How PR Needs to Evolve to Drive Brand Fame’ is not just an examination of how the younger generation’s hold on society is strengthening by the day, it’s a playbook for how the PR industry can evolve to best fit with today’s tastemakers and tomorrow’s leaders.

Rob Lowe
Specifically, delegates can expect to leave the session with a firm grasp of how Gen Z drives culture and media, what this means for consumer PR’s future, and solutions for remaining at the industry’s forefront.
Moreno, Liddle and Lowe are joining a packed out roster of communications and PR experts already scheduled for the event, including Dentsu Creative’s chief PR officer Tim Powell, FleishmanHillard Australia’s general manager Lexi Penfold, and more.
Mumbrella CommsCon 2024 and its corresponding awards ceremony will be held on 27 March, 2024 at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel.
