FutureBrand Australia supports World Youth Skills Day

FutureBrand Australia has announced that it will be taking part in the World Youth Skills Day initiative.

The announcement:

Young people from around the world will be able to engage in one-to-one conversations with FutureBrand Australia team members to find out what it’s like to work in a branding company and what they need to do to pursue a career in the creative industries. It’s part of a global initiative involving FutureBrand team members all over the world in support of World Youth Skills Day (WYSD).

FutureBrand Australia CEO Rich Curtis, General Manager Christina Kokkinakis and Brand Experience Director Stephen Barber are taking part in the initiative alongside their colleagues from FutureBrand’s global family of companies: FutureBrand, customer experience design business UXUS and digital design agency Hugo & Cat.

Young people aged 16-21 worldwide have the chance to book 30-minute meetings with some of the most influential members across various departments throughout the multiple FutureBrand, UXUS and Hugo & Cat offices around the world. The meetings will allow young people to ask the kind of questions that can help shape their futures, whether in branding or more broadly across the creative sector .

This global initiative by FutureBrand follows Rich Curtis’s local launch of Thirty:3, a social initiative created in early 2020 as the pandemic spread worldwide dedicated to giving time – 30-minutes, three times a day – to people who need brand and marketing help for free. Thirty:3 has helped hundreds of people, start-ups and non-profits since launch.

On the WYSD initiative, Rich Curtis commented: “I believe it’s essential that we inspire and educate the next generation about the possibilities presented by a career in creativity. What’s more, it’s equally important that we provide avenues that make it easy for people to discover more, especially people who might not even know that career opportunities like this exist. I certainly had a good deal of guidance as I found my way into our industry and it’s great to be able to help others in this way by reflecting on our own journeys and the lessons learnt along the way.”

FutureBrand Australia General Manager Christina Kokkinakis added: “First career steps are always scary. World Youth Skills Day is an incredible opportunity to connect with the next generation and support them in defining their unique career journey.”

Alongside these sessions, FutureBrand has released a specially commissioned video for WYSD that asks their employees questions, the answers to which, would have benefited themselves at the start of their careers. The video aims to show young people that everyone starts somewhere and that it’s okay to not be sure of where to go next or how to get there.

The one-to-one sessions can be booked at FutureBrand.com until September 2021.
