General Mills vows to donate Latina Fresh packets for good cause
General Mills has vowed to fight household hunger by donating a packet of Latina™ Fresh filled pasta for every packet sold in Coles nationwide throughout May.
The announcement:
General Mills will donate one packet of Latina™ Fresh filled pasta for every packet sold in Coles nationwide throughout May, so people can feed their family and someone in need.
For every packet of Latina™ Fresh Ricotta and Spinach Agnolotti 625g sold between 1-31 May 2024, General Mills will donate one packet, up to a retail value of $220,000. This effort builds on General Mills’ longstanding partnership with Foodbank including a volunteer program where employees give their time to help pack and sort food to help feed people in need.
“At General Mills, we remain committed to ensuring G Stands for Good for the communities we serve,” said Surini Perera, marketing director for Australia and New Zealand, General Mills. “Giving back through donating Latina™ Fresh Ricotta and Spinach Agnolotti ensures families can enjoy a fresh meal that the whole family will enjoy.
The General Mills and Coles initiative is an extension of the ongoing support Latina™ Fresh provides to Foodbank as part of its Collaborative Supply Program. Through the program, General Mills donates production time and labour at its Rooty Hill manufacturing plant to make Latina™ Fresh Ricotta and Spinach Agnolotti packs for Foodbank every month, and in addition, the company’s suppliers support by donating raw materials and packaging.
“We’re proud to continue working with organisations like Foodbank, especially at a time when so many households are feeling the pinch,” said Perera. “Through this remarkable program, we will have donated nearly half a million meals to people in need by 1 June 2024, and we will continue to do everything we can to help fight food insecurity in the coming months and beyond.”
“We’re so grateful to General Mills for donating its delicious Latina Fresh pasta, a meal we know is loved by the many households doing it tough right now,” said Brianna Casey, CEO, Foodbank Australia. “When a staggering 3.7 million households have struggled to put food on the table in the past year, donations like this are vital to provide families with a fresh, nutritious source of protein.”
