Network 10 linear channels coming to LG smart TVs

Paramount Australia's linear channels will be integrated into LG Channels
Network 10’s streaming channels will be added to LG’s range of smart TVs this month, marking the first time that a local free-to-air network’s linear feed will be integrated into LG’s own programming.
From later this month, LG smart televisions will receive live content from 10, 10 Drama, 10 Comedy, and Nickelodeon via IP (internet protocol), bypassing the need for an aerial.
The stations will be available through the manufacturer’s FAST channel offering, LG Channels, allowing users to surf between 10’s stations and the 130 other streaming channels available on the platform, without needing to go into 10’s dedicated app. Users will be required to have a free account on 10.com.au.
LG Channels reach an audience of more than 650,000 monthly users, according to the company’s own statistics.
Paramount Australia (10’s owner) claims in a media release this integration “represents a proactive response to the dynamic progression of linear TV and how Australians watch content, as the CTV and streaming markets continue to grow and evolve.”
The network adds this partnership “further reflects a broader industry trend placing emphasis on more intuitive user interfaces, smart home integration, and on-device content discoverability, blending live, linear feeds with on-demand libraries, ensuring audiences can easily find and enjoy content across multiple platforms and devices.”
It also highlights Australia’s need for a unified app that includes IPTV linear feeds of the free-to-air channels — one that mirrors the simplicity of the traditional TV up/down channel switching.
Foxtel already offers a linear IP feed of all five free-to-air networks (and their additional free-to-air stations, such as 10 Comedy), but requires users to sign into each network’s app before accessing the stations through the main menu system. It also requires a Foxtel subscription.
In Paramount’s media release, the company’s local VP of partner management and business development, Lachlan Roach, said this development “sets a new global standard for IP content delivery and paves the way for future innovation in streaming and broadcast synergy.”
Roach claims this marks “Australia first CTV IP linear distribution partnership”, and adds it will “deliver commercial value for a number of our group assets”.
In addition to the linear channels, Paramount Australia said it will have “increased visibility” for its streaming services with its 10 streaming and Paramount+ tile placements to be placed in a prominent position on the LG Home page launcher bar.
