George Miller to receive Order of France
Australian director George Miller will be presented with the Order of Arts and Letters by Michel Filhol, French ambassador to Australia, with the presence of French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
A spokesperson for the French Film Festival said that Miller had been selected by the French Minister of Culture and Communication Frédéric Mitterand, as a distinction in recognition of “his impressive body of work spanning three decades”.Most Order of France recipients are French citizens, with the exception of artists such as Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Steven Spielberg. Miller will be presented with this honour on March 2, at the festival’s opening night in Sydney.
