Seven West Media’s publishing arm Pacific Magazines has confirmed its new commercial director will be Gereurd Roberts.

Roberts, who was previously a publisher at Pacific Magazines, steps in to the vacancy left by Peter Zavecz who was made director of magazines in November after Nick Chan was lifted to the role of chief operating officer of Seven West Media.

Zavecz said: “We have been impressed with Gereurd’s drive, understanding of the evolving media landscape and vision for the future.”

As commercial director he will lead advertising sales, client services, digital sales and a new arm at Pacific as well as driving sales integration opportunities with other Seven West Media business.

Roberts has more than 15 years of publishing experience including with Guardian News and Media and ACP Magazines.

Zavecz added: “We see Gereurd’s non-traditional sales background as a positive, with his background in print and digital content offering Pacific and our clients a different sales perspective. We will leverage this new approach to get further upstream and help our clients connect with our audiences in better ways.”

Kurt Burnette, Seven West Media’s chief revenue officer, said he is the ideal person to take the business forward.

“He is someone who intimately knows the printed and digital product and process from creation to production sales,” he said.

Roberts added: “The rapidly changing environment requires a sharp focus on innovation and results. We will continue to strengthen the footprint, engagement and relevancy of our client partnerships, while combining them with new content initiatives and intelligent multi-platform ideas.”
