Girlfriend seeks new editor as Tamara Davis moves across to InStyle

Pacific Magazines is recruiting a new editor for Girlfriend, with Tamara Davis joining the InStyle team as deputy editor.

Davis was appointed to the magazine in 2016, following Pac Mag’s decision to combine the editor roles of both Girlfriend and Total Girl

Total Girl and another Pac Mags brand K-Zone were subsequently sold to Nextmedia as the publisher looked to refocus its strategy.

Davis will now work under InStyle’s editor Emily Taylor, which CEO Gereurd Roberts said was now one of the industry’s leading titles.

“InStyle has been revamped to become one of the country’s most cutting-edge premium brands under the stewardship of another of our stars, Emily Taylor, and we are excited to see Em and Tamara join forces to take it to another level again,” he said.

During Davis’ tenure as editor of Girlfriend the magazine relaunched as a quarterly print product with four additional digital editions each year. Roberts paid tribute to Davis’ achievements in what is a tumultuous time for the magazine industry.

“Tamara has done an outstanding job leading Girlfriend and building what is not only Australia’s leading teen brand, but creating a new model and product to engage the socially-conscious women of today,” he said.

“We are a business which nurtures and promotes our top young talent and Tamara is certainly one of those, and we are delighted she’s taking her next career step here at Pacific.”

Pac Mags said it is seeking a “creative and passionate” editor who will be responsible for managing all editorial content, bringing first-to-market initiatives to the table and overseeing the editorial team.
