Engagement marketing agency GMR Marketing is expanding and opening an office Sydney.

The announcement:

MILWAUKEE, Wisc., Feb. 7, 2011 – GMR Marketing, the world’s largest engagement marketing agency, is adding Australia to its growing global footprint with the opening of a new office in Sydney.

In response to growing global client demand to extend GMR’s specialist scope of service into key international markets, GMR’s Sydney operations, covering the Oceania region, will be led by experienced Australian marketing executive Lindsay Chappel, formally of M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment and Traffik Marketing. The new office will be the 24th office globally, with GMR now operating in 14 countries. In 2010 and earlier in 2011, GMR commenced operations in the UK, Germany, Poland, Spain, Russia and Singapore, in addition to its existing extensive network. GMR Australia is a result of a joint venture between GMR Marketing and the Clemenger Group, Australia’s largest communications group.

“The Oceania region is a key strategic region for GMR and our clients,” said Cameron Parsons, GMR’s International Managing Director. “We are very excited to be in a joint venture with the Clemenger Group to commence operations there, including reach into New Zealand later in the year. GMR’s goal is to establish operations in those locations that allow us to provide consistent delivery of best-in-class strategic and creative solutions to our clients, with keen local insight and applicability.”

Chappel comes to GMR from M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, where she managed and activated marketing strategies for the creative communications company specializing in PR and sports sponsorship exploitation. Prior to that, she spent two years as a marketing manager at Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, assisting in managing and expanding the company’s motorsport sponsorship and associated PR portfolio. Prior to Toyota, Chappel also worked at Traffik Marketing, Australia’s premier experiential marketing agency, where she established Quikstrike, a brand ambassador staffing solution, marketing activation and logistics business within the agency

“I’m really looking forward to an exciting 2011 for GMR as our team brings a range of experience and capabilities to service both local and global brands,” Chappel said. “To bring a full-service agency that is a global leader into the Australian and New Zealand market is an exciting opportunity for brands to be at the forefront of the Australian marketplace and ahead of their competitors.”
