Gogglebox grabs 134,000 viewers for LifeStyle finale as it is renewed for second season

The season finale of Gogglebox Australia on Foxtel’s LifeStyle Channel was watched by 134,000 national viewers, with the show already picked up for a second season set to run later this year.

It premiered on pay TV to 146,000 viewers in February and has now been commissioned for a second season. The finale will also run on Ten tonight and does contain spoilers for the premiere episode of season five of Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile, My Kitchen Rules was the most-watched free-to-air show of the evening despite a small dip on last week’s audience, with the reality cooking show posting a metro audience of 1.384m down from 1.465m.

It helped Seven easily claim a winning audience share of 25.8 per cent, as Nine lagged behind with a share of  18.4 per cent.

The cooking show easily beat Nine’s The Block: Triple Threat which was watched by 801,000 metro viewers in the 7.30pm timeslot, while Ten’s David Attenborough documentary Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life was only watched by 368,000 viewers. It was down on last week’s Attenborough show, Attenborough and the Giant Egg, which grabbed a metro audience of 440,000.

A new show on Nine The Amazing 90s, airing at 8.45pm, pulled in an audience of 547,000, out-rated by Seven’s Criminal Minds which aired at 9pm and was watched by 854,000 metro viewers.

Ten’s Wonderland, which ran in the 8.30pm timeslot, lured an audience of 351,000, down on last week’s audience of 384,000. At 9.30pm The Good Wife was watched by 246,000.

Ten grabbed an audience share of 10 per cent as the ABC claimed third place with a share of 12.5 per cent.

The Good Wife was out-rated by Nine’s US crime show Forever, which aired from 9.45pm, and grabbed an audience of 303,000, down from from last week’s 9.30pm audience of 417,000.

On the ABC, 7.30 was watched by 608,000, QI at 8pm had an audience of 495,000 and Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell’s audience dropped from last week’s audience of 763,000 to 678,000 last night to be the 11th most watched show of the night.

In news, Nine News pulled an audience of 1.071m at 6pm, dipping to 989,000 at 6.30pm. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 910,000, maintaing that number at 6.30pm.

On the secondary channels, Eleven’s Neighbours was the most watched show of the evening with an audience of 300,000.
