Gogglebox pips MasterChef but Seven wins the night

MasterChef Australia’s return is yet to deliver for Ten in OzTam’s television ratings, with another underwhelming performance on Thursday seeing the program lose out to stablemate Gogglebox.

Gogglebox was the top-rating non-news program of the night, with 605,000 metro viewers tuning in. MasterChef brought in 591,000 metro viewers for its first all-in elimination – up slightly on the night before – but still down on Monday’s launch.

Gogglebox also won the three key advertising demographics on Thursday night.

Ten was able to take out a solid network share, with 24.5%, just behind Nine with 25.5%. The winner on the night was Seven though, taking out a 27.4% share despite not having a Thursday night AFL broadcast.

Instead, it aired back-to-back episodes of Home And Away, followed by the return of AFL talk show with Andy Maher, Mick Molloy and Sam Pang, The Front Bar.

The former pulled in 532,000 metro viewers while 309,000 metro viewers watched The Front Bar. Meanwhile, Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live aired to 364,000 metro viewers.

Seven claimed the win in news on the night, with 948,000 metro viewers watching Seven News at 6.30 – making it the top rating program overall.

The #1 multi-channel for Thursday night was 7Two, which had a 3.8% share.
