Google names Jason Pellegrino new managing director Australia and New Zealand
Google has named Jason Pellegrino as the new managing director for Australia and New Zealand, replacing Maile Carnegie who left the company to join the ANZ bank in March.
Pellegrino is currently the director of Asia Pacific sales operations and strategy at Google, a role he has held since 2014, and was previously responsible for Google’s business strategies throughout the region.
The seven-year veteran of the company worked previously with businesses such as KPMG, PepsiCo and LEK Consulting.
His experience includes corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and sales and marketing.
Pellegrino takes the reigns of the company in Australia and New Zealand after Google parent Alphabet revealed it would start paying tax on advertising in Australia rather than booking it through Singapore after a long campaign by the Australian Tax Office.
Carnegie joined Google from Procter & Gamble where she had worked her entire career and was in the role for three years before she accepted the role with ANZ.
President of Google Asia Pacific, Karim Temsamani, stepped into the role on a caretaker basis while the company searched for a replacement.
