Google staff to work from home until at least June next year

Google has told staff that the option to work from home throughout the COVID-19 pandemic will be extended to 30 June, 2021.

The policy applies to Australian workers as well.

Google’s financial position will be revealed in a few days 

Google’s parent company Alphabet employs over 100,000 people globally.

CEO of Google Sundar Pichai wrote to Google staff and said: “To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021 for roles that don’t need to be in the office.”

The full impact of COVID-19 on Google’s business has not yet been revealed, with the company set to release its Q2 financial results at the end of July.

Thus far, of the tech giants, Twitter has revealed a 22% decline in advertising revenue for the period of April to June. Facebook’s results are set to be released about 24 hours prior to Google’s.
