Google staff to work from home until at least June next year
Google has told staff that the option to work from home throughout the COVID-19 pandemic will be extended to 30 June, 2021.
The policy applies to Australian workers as well.

Google’s parent company Alphabet employs over 100,000 people globally.
CEO of Google Sundar Pichai wrote to Google staff and said: “To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021 for roles that don’t need to be in the office.”
The full impact of COVID-19 on Google’s business has not yet been revealed, with the company set to release its Q2 financial results at the end of July.
Thus far, of the tech giants, Twitter has revealed a 22% decline in advertising revenue for the period of April to June. Facebook’s results are set to be released about 24 hours prior to Google’s.
Google’s empathetic approach to its employees during the pandemic should be commended. No wonder its dinosaur detractors, who are forcing employees back into the office early, are bitter and want free money for nothing. Sorry NewsCorp!

Having Google employees work from home has made things trickier for us as clients. Their account managers who essentially support our AdWords account, have limited access to information and systems.
This was done for security reasons so that access to certain information and control is confined within their physical organization.
What this has meant for us is that we have not been able to make more major changes to our account or run various tests in-case our account manager is required to step in and assist. He will not be able to do this from his home. He advised us against making these changes until he returns to the office.
