GPY&R Melbourne promotes Jake Barrow to executive creative director

GPY&R Melbourne has appointed Jake Barrow to the role of executive creative director.

Barrow joined GPY&R Melbourne as an art director in 2011, and more recently held the role of creative director for almost two years.

Across his career, he has worked as an art director across agencies including DDB Melbourne, J Walter Thompson and Buchanan Group.

At GPY&R Melbourne, Barrow’s work includes last year’s Anzac Day campaign for Legacy, the Lost Dogs ‘You can’t hide real love‘ and its outdoor ‘Wait with a mate’ campaigns, and Public Transport Victoria’s ‘World of Melbourne by bus’ work from earlier this month.

His work has previously been recognised with 13 Cannes Lions and in 2013, Barrow was ranked in the Gunn Report’s Top 20 Creatives.

Last year, he won the only Australian Cyber Lion for his work with Minus 18 on ‘You’re Accepted.’

Josh Moore, chief creative officer at Y&R ANZ said Barrow had been responsible for “much of GPY&R Melbourne’s award-winning work and new business success”.

“This promotion is recognition of his talent, passion and drive,” Moore said.

GPY&R Melbourne’s managing partner, Julian Bell described Barrow as a “cultural pillar”.

“In recent years he’s developed strong relationships with our clientele, helped deliver organic growth and new business wins across Bel Group and the Victorian state government. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him join the leadership team,” said Bell.

Commenting on his appointment, Barrow said he was looking forward to the future.

“Long before I started at GPY&R I admired the culture of creativity the agency stood for, years later I am humbled to be asked to lead it.

“We have an incredibly talented bunch of people in the building; all with a one track mind to make great work for our clients,” he said.

GPY&R Melbourne’s clients include Bel Australia, Public Transport Victoria and Legacy.
