Grey MD Jane Emery departs

Grey Australia’s Melbourne-based managing director Jane Emery has departed the WPP agency as part of its ongoing shakeup.

The move follows last week’s revelation that Grey’s struggling Sydney office is to be rebranded as JayGrey as part of the surprise arrival of Jay Furby at the creative helm.

Grey chairman Paul Gardner will take direct control of the agency in the meantime.

He said: “Jane has been with Grey and myself a little over 15 years and, in that time, she has injected a great deal of enthusiasm, professionalism, expertise and friendship to our Melbourne operation and helped grow a small local business into a strong business.

“She is incredibly talented and I’m sure the next stage of her career will be as equally adventurous and rewarding.

“For the remainder of the year, I will assume all day-to-day responsibilities for managing the Melbourne office, overseeing Canberra and establishing our new Grey Sydney operation, JayGrey.”

Emery, who will complete her Masters of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the end of the year said in a statement: “While I am sad to be leaving Grey after fifteen years, I am looking forward to using my recent learnings and experience and bringing a number of business opportunities to life in early 2010.”
