Gumtree appoints director of advertising, Shannon Fitzpatrick

Gumtree has hired a new director of advertising, Shannon Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick will lead a team of salespeople and analysts to deliver brand solutions for Gumtree’s clients and lead the strategic direction of its programmatic advertising.

Fitzpatrick said of his appointment: “What attracted me to the role is the fact that Gumtree is a beloved brand that connects its 7m monthly users locally as they browse, buy and sell through the site. Through our world-class technology, we have access to data that allows us to identify intent and personas through custom segmentation, so we can create audience driven solutions across our display, native and rich media product suite.

Previously, Fitzpatrick was the director of programmatic and ad-tech at Domain. He spent almost five years at the business, joining from Adstream. Fitzpatrick has also held roles at News Corp Australia and Bauer Media.

Gumtree’s programmatic marketplace launched in 2016, investing in DMP, programmatic advertising capabilities and first-party data. Gumtree Media said that Fitzpatrick’s appointment was critical given the increasing demand for its services in response to COVID-19.

In April, the ACCC grated approval for Gumtree to acquire Cox Media, the parent company of Carsguide and Autotrader.
