The Hallway expands in Melbourne with three key appointments

Sydney based agency The Hallway is establishing a Melbourne team, appointing a custom experience director, a senior art director, and promoting Hannah Sturrock, head of operations, to head the group.

This follows the agency winning the ANZ Bank’s Cards account earlier this year.

The Hallway’s Melbourne team (L-R): Hannah Sturrock, Tisha Lazaro, and Wilmari Pienaar

Wilmari Pienaar joins the agency as customer experience director, aiming to boost the agency’s focus on customer experience.

She joins The Hallway from AJF Partnership, where she was director of CRM and digital.

Pienaar has also previously held roles across organisations including Intrepid Travel, Digicel and Fairfax.

At the same time, Tisha Lazaro joins The Hallway as senior art director.

Lazaro was most recently at Big Red for almost two years, and prior to that spent five years as a freelance senior creative and art director.

Meanwhile Sturrock, who joined the company in 2011, has been promoted to group head, and will work across Sydney and Melbourne, with a focus on leading the agency’s ANZ business.

Jules Hall, CEO and partner at The Hallway congratulated the three women.

“Hannah joined us when we were only ten people in a little studio in Redfern, and has been a big part of our success, helping shape our brand and our culture,” Hall said.

“She’s a natural leader and an awesome partner for our clients. She’s also an ex-Melbournian so handles the crazy weather and knows how to make a hook turn in the CBD.”

He said he was excited to welcome Pienaar’s “expertise” to the team.

“She has a rare blend of deep technical knowledge combined with omni-channel strategic marketing experience. Plus she really understands the power of harnessing data to shape powerful customer experiences throughout acquisition and retention journeys,” Hall said.

Asked whether the company had official set up shop, Hall said: “At the moment we are quietly ramping up the team.” While the independent agency does not have its own dedicated Melbourne office, it is looking to build its client base and local team in the city.

It comes the same week Mercerbell announced it would open a Melbourne agency.

The company’s clients include ANZ, Google, UNSW, South Africa Tourism and NSW Government.
