Hannah Sturrock joins the ACA as national head of engagement

Hannah Sturrock has been appointed as national head of engagement at the Advertising Council Australia (ACA).

Sturrock joins after departing The Hallway in January, spending nine years at the independent creative agency, most recently as managing partner. Sturrock left The Hallway following an ‘operational restructure’ which was carried out in December. She joined the agency as head of operations.

On her appointment, Sturrock said: “I’m a passionate advocate for the power and potential of the people in our industry, and the impact we make on our clients’ businesses. I’m looking forward to working alongside our incredible Board, our members and the national ACA team to champion the value of diverse thinking, creativity and marketing as a driver for profitable growth.”

In the time since her departure from The Hallway, Sturrock has been consulting on marketing strategy for the Social Impact Hub, working as a strategy director for Coffee Cocoa Gunpowder under contract and as a consultant for March Sixth.

CEO of the ACA, Tony Hale, said: “We are delighted to have Hannah join us. Her knowledge of the industry and passion for strategy and creativity makes her an ideal fit. I have no doubt that Hannah will quickly add enormous value and provide vital support for key issues among our membership community.”

Last month, the ACA appointed several new deputy chairs, including Host/Havas CEO Laura Aldington and Publicis Group ANZ CEO Michael Rebelo. Both were already current board members, and were then elected to their new roles at the election that took place at the ACA’s board meeting and AGM on 13 May.

Three new directors were also appointed, including M&C Saatchi Group CEO, Justin Graham, BMF Advertising CEO Steve McArdle and TBWA Melbourne/Adelaide CEO Kimberlee Wells.

In the new role, Sturrock will be leading the implementation of the ACA core strategies of “people development, creativity and value demonstration”. She will also be heading up several committees, which includes the Account Planning Group, Diversity & Inclusion and National Youngbloods.
