New AMEX role: Norris

One of Australia’s leading digital strategists Ciaran Norris has departed publisher Yahoo7 after less than a year, taking a new marketing role with American Express.

Norris joined the digital joint venture between Seven West Media and Yahoo in November 2014 from media agency Mindshare, where he was chief digital officer.

At Yahoo7 Norris was responsible for managing advertising and commercial integration, as well as helping it get its mobile, video and cross-platform offerings in order.

He has now taken the role of director of marketing and business insights consultation at credit card provider American Express, which according to his LinkedIn profile sees him lead the JAPAC consultancy team in the global merchant services marketing team.

Yahoo7 said Andrea Rule, the recently announced head of integration, will be taking over Norris’ duties.

The publisher has made a number of redundancies in recent months as the business looks to reshape under CEO Ed Harrison, in a bid to make the division more profitable.
