In its announcement, the MFA said:

“The MFA would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of Gary Hardwick. Gary spent 11 years serving on the board of the MFA Executive; including a term as Chair of Award and since November 2006 as President. In this capacity, Gary invested a significant amount of time and energy not only in leading the Executive but as an active participant and spokesperson for the industry within many boardroom discussions and debates and industry events. Whilst this can be a challenging role when speaking on behalf of your competitors, Gary not only handled this situation with total diplomacy but he also injected significant weight and influence to the issues we aim to address.
