High expectations for Guardians’ release

Animal Logic’s animated film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole opens in the United States this weekend, and the company expects a much better box office result than the Hollywood Stock Exchange’s prediction for the film

“I wish I had a crystal ball. Our ambition for it is much bigger than that. We’ll have to see how audiences respond; we’ve got a film that will create a good word of mouth because it’s very original and stands out in the marketplace. There haven’t been too many well-created 3D experiences, and Legend of the Guardians is a great one, so I’m more optimistic than the Hollywood Stock Exchange,” executive producer and head of Animal Logic Zareh Nalbandian told Encore.

For the international release, the marketing campaign is in full flight; Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures are making sure everybody knows about it.

Los Angeles is currently covered with posters and billboards for the new television shows premiering this week but, of course, there will always be room for movies in Hollywood. In addition to Ga’ Hoole buses running through the city’s main avenues such as Sunset and Santa Monica, Encore found this poster at the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.

There’s also plenty of giant billboards for the film in Mexico City, where it will be released on October 8 under the name Ga’ Hoole. This three-storey tall billboard is situated close to Mexico City’s World Trade Center (right).

In Australia, Legend of the Guardians will be released by Roadshow on September 27 (VIC/QLD) and 30 (all other states).
