Hill + Knowlton Strategies wins LG account

Hill + Knowlton Strategies Australia has won the PR account for LG following a competitive pitch.

The announcement:

Hill+Knowlton Strategies Australia (H+K) has added to its growing technology and lifestyle portfolio, scooping an account win in the form of consumer electronics giant, LG.

Through a competitive pitch process, H+K has been appointed for its strong combined consumer technology and lifestyle offer and is tasked with injecting new ideas and adding some creative flair to LG’s local PR program.

As of 1 July, H+K will hit the ground running on the account, working across all of LG’s key business units, including Mobile Communications, Home Electronics, Home Appliances, IT + B2B and Air Conditioning + Energy.

H+K will be handed the LG baton from WPP sister agency Pulse Communications, after a mutual decision with LG was made not to extend the relationship.

The LG account is symptomatic of a number of new clients signed by H+K under the stewardship of Hill+Knowlton’s new Managing Director, Penelope Holloway. New client account wins include Pfizer, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), PGA Australia, Uber Bar Tools, Moa Beer, Cliff Dive and Asea, whilst continuing to widen its scope of work with healthcare giant, Bayer.

“The energy and enthusiasm that the H+K team poured into the LG pitch – and in our handover since – has been remarkable and I’m incredibly proud of the team.

“We all wholeheartedly believe that LG has a very strong brand heritage and an abundance of truly great products. The challenge ahead is to think strategically about the opportunities to strengthen the brand, and tactically, to reach new creative highs – both for consumers directly and the media.”

Operating under the ‘LG One’ banner, the new account team comes from a diverse mix of backgrounds. Helen Reiher – a six-year employee of H+K heading up the tech offer – will lead the account, supported by content director Nick Snelling and new hires Ciaran Pillay – newly recruited from London, Byron Allen – fresh out of LG One in Korea, and Dehanne Grant who starts this week from Weber Shandwick.
