Home and Away and Love Actually give Seven the win

Seven’s Home and Away and the annual screening of Christmas-themed film Love Actually handed Seven an easy win last night, with an audience share of 23.5%.

According to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings, Home and Away captured 694,000 viewers at 7:00pm while Seven’s Christmas film offering drew 590,000 viewers to the channel at 8:30pm.

Love Actually was the most watched show for two of the key advertising demographics (16-39s and 18-49s).

Nine’s offering of the Australia vs Pakistan cricket test ended early in the day, substituting the test’s dedicated third session in the ratings for police reality show RBT.

RBT achieved 662,000 viewers at 7:30pm, a slip from last week’s audience of 720,000. 

Despite its drop in the ratings, RBT still managed to beat Ten’s Jamie’s Ultimate Christmas, which pulled in 507,000 viewers.

Seven also won the evening of news with 1.075m viewers at 6:30pm and 1.047m at 6:00pm.

Nine News attracted 796,000 viewers at 6:30pm and 788,000 in the 6:00pm slot.

At 8:00pm, the ABC’s Back Roads grabbed 631,000 which was down from last week’s audience of 721,000.

The ABC’s Restoration Man, which aired at 8:30pm managed to beat Bruce Willis’ Die Hard, which drew 443,000 viewers over Ten’s audience of 432,000.

Nine’s offering of Mission Impossible III achieved 329,000 viewers in the same time slot.

While Seven dominated the night, Nine had a share of 17.0%, Ten 14.9%, ABC 12.6% and SBS 3.8%.
