Howatson + White’s foundation client revealed as Allianz

Allianz is the foundation client of Chris Howatson and Ant White’s eponymous creative agency, Howatson + White, Mumbrella can reveal.

The agency has a full-service remit, working across Allianz’s marketing including creative, PR, CRM, shopper and digital, but excluding media.

Howatson + White officially launched last week, but has been in the market since December when it was revealed that the pair were leaving Clemenger Group’s CHE Proximity and starting their own business. Since then, the foundation client has caused much speculation within the industry.

“Allianz! We couldn’t be prouder to be working with Allianz and their other agency partners. Allianz are an ambitious team, unbelievably collaborative, and seeking solutions across the entire marketing mix. Howatson+White+Allianz – what a way to start,” Howatson told Mumbrella.

The new agency’s team working on the Allianz account consists of 12 people, just over a third of the 32-person business.

Allianz previously worked with TBWA for creative services, which Mumbrella understands was on a project basis. it us understood Eleven PR will continue working on public relations for the rest of the year. Previously, WE Communications has also worked on the public relations account.

An Allianz spokesperson told Mumbrella: “Allianz works with a number of agencies at any one time, currently that includes with Howatson + White. We are are looking forward to bringing new creative campaigns to the market in the coming months.”

Allianz’s chief market manager, Nicholas Adams, left the business after just over three years as a member of its leadership team at the end of 2020, following “the introduction of a new operating model across Allianz, and the creation of a new consumer division, which will contain our brand and marketing function”.

The Consumer Division is now led by Michael Winter, who had been leading retail distribution.
