HuffPost Australia editor Josh Butler to join Ten Daily
HuffPost Australia’s editor Josh Butler is set to depart the company, joining Ten Daily as a senior reporter in the coming weeks.
Butler, who has worked with HuffPost Australia since its launch in 2015, was appointed editor of the US publisher’s Australian arm earlier this year. His appointment followed a scale back of HuffPost’s Australian operations, which was announced in November.

The cuts saw more than 30 employees affected, including editor in chief Tory Maguire and CEO JJ Eastwood.
Prior to his time with HuffPost, Butler worked as an emergency services news reporter at the Illawarra Mercury as well as a UN correspondent at IPS Inter Press Service.
Butler said he was “super keen” to launch the new site.
“It’s been an amazing 2.5 years at HuffPost where I got to travel all over the country/world and do some totally wild stuff, but time for a new challenge,” he said on Twitter.
It is not yet clear who will replace Butler in the role as editor.
Butler’s latest appointment will see him work on the soon-to-launch website for Ten with the likes of executive editor Lisa Wilkinson, managing editor Mel Cornford and Sandra Sully who was recently appointed news editor.

Ten Daily was first announced towards the end of 2016 at the media company’s upfronts. At the time, Ten said the site would capitalise on growing demand for short-form content, with the “stand-alone, full-service, mobile-first website” offering short-form news, entertainment, lifestyle, sport and parenting content.
The venture was subsequently confirmed a year later at the 2017 upfronts, with the site expected to launch some time this year, although a date has not been confirmed.
