Hyland Media retains COTY

Hyland Media has retained fragrance brand COTY after a six month media pitch that also involved OMD, Starcom and MPG.  

The announcement:

After an extremely long pitch process that extended from October 2009 until April 2010, Hyland Media have retained COTY as a client. The pitch process involved incumbent Hyland Media, OMD, Starcom and MPG.

COTY used the Reckitt bidding system where all agencies had to bid on COTY business. This process was conducted in October and in March. Following this process three agencies were invited to present strategy on a fragrance brand within in the portfolio.

The process was judged by both COTY head office Paris and by Gavin Blackburn, Managing Director as well as the COTY Australia team. The agency that delivered the strongest results based on rate and strategy would win the business.

After a hard fought battle Hyland Media was announced the winner today. Founder Virginia Hyland commented “This is an outstanding achievement for our agency. We are thrilled to be working on COTY. It shows that a small agency can compete successfully against large global organizations. There is a place for both large and small agencies on a global stage. The combination of our local knowledge and senior day to day service on COTY does make a difference to their outcomes”.
