Hyper Island to host masterclasses in Australia

The Communications Council will bring digital education institute Hyper Island to Australia.

The announcement:

The Communications Council, Australia’s peak body representing the communications and marketing industry, today announced it is bringing the world’s leading institute for digital education, Hyper Island, to Australia to host a series of master classes in Sydney and Melbourne.

Founded in Sweden, Hyper Island has been dubbed the ‘interactive equivalent of Oxbridge’, with 90% of students receiving job offers from top agencies before they graduate. Hyper Island students have been known to be recruited by companies such as Apple, Droga5, Google, IDEO, Pixar and Goodby Silverstein & Partners while its master classes attract top level executives from companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, EURO RSCG and Ogilvy.

The Communications Council’s partnership with Hyper Island reflects its commitment to providing innovative, world-class training opportunities in Australia.

“We are tremendously excited to be bringing this digital institution to Australia, especially as it is the first time Hyper Island has offered its master classes in the Asia Pacific region. Through Hyper Island, Australian communications professionals will gain exposure to an entirely unique learning methodology, which centres around team effectiveness, global digital trends and group leadership skills,” says Daniel Leesong, CEO of The Communications Council.

Since 1995, Hyper Island has trained around 1,100 graduates in Stockholm and in an old naval prison in small town Karlskrona, Sweden while also developing tailor-made master classes for creative professionals in Europe and the United States, out of its offices in New York, London and Manchester.

Hyper Island’s master classes focus on enhancing efficiency within organizations and using interactive communications as a tool for ensuring high growth and long-term success. Classes are developed in close collaboration with top agencies and brands around the world, and are partly inspired by leadership tactics employed by the Swedish military. The master classes in Sydney and Melbourne will be tailored specifically for marketing, advertising and media professionals across creative businesses.

“We have developed our learning method, totally focused on digital communication, for more than 15 years. And it is global. Our success in the UK and US clearly shows that. We are now extremely happy to be able to offer the industry in Australia the opportunity to take their businesses to the next level through the unique Hyper Island training, says Mattias Hansson, CEO of Hyper Island.

The Communications Council’s three-day Hyper Island Master Class take place on:

Sydney workshop: 17 – 18 – 19 September 2010

Melbourne workshop: 24 – 25 – 26 September 2010

A limited number of places are available for each three-day master class to create a highly immersive learning environment. Lecturers and facilitators from Europe and Australia will oversee all lectures and assignments, and full course details will be unveiled over the coming weeks.
