IAB Awards revamp pays off

iab-awards-logoThe decision by Australia’s Interactive Advertising Bureau to radically restructure its awards appears to have paid off, with a 59% increase in entries this year.

The IAB told Mumbrella that it had received 183 entries, including 13 for the fledgling social media marketing category.

New IAB CEO Paul Fisher led the move to a model based on the US MIXX Awards following criticism of last year’s judging and event.

He said: “They are all of an extremely high standard. This is a fantastic achievement and the popularity of the new categories is a very positive sign for the industry and its overall strategic and creative maturity.”

Judging is underway with finalists announced on May 28 ahead if the award ceremony in Sydney on July 9.
