Icon Agency has hired Andrew North as creative director, following strong growth in 2020 which saw the agency open up a new office in Sydney this month.
North brings three decades of experience to Icon, previously working as associate creative director at McCann and as senior creative at M&C Saatchi and Clemenger BBDO.
North has most recently been working as a freelancer, spending some time working with Icon.
He said: “Icon’s work speaks for itself. I’m excited to become a permanent part of the team and join such a forward-thinking group”.

Icon’s managing director, Joanne Painter, said: “We are incredibly excited to have Andrew North on board as Icon’s new Creative Director, and he was welcomed with open arms from every department”.
North has experience working with brands including ANZ, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Qantas, Target and Vodafone.

Northy is an expert in understanding how to translate creative concepts across these mediums – and still always resonate with the audience”, said Painter.
The hire follows the agency’s recent growth, which includes reported double digit growth in the past 12 months, following the addition of 20 new clients, major projects and new contracts with the Department of Home Affairs, Schneider Electric, ADP, the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, the Victorian Government and Global Victoria.
