Illegal immigration comedy to lead festival
Le Havre, a dark comedy about an illegal immigrant, will lead the lineup at this year’s Hall’s Gap Film Festival, which takes place in Victoria in November.
The French language comedy, has so far only been seen in Australia at theMelbourne International Film Festival. It was also screened at this year’s Cannes Film Fesitval.
Le Havre is directed by Aki Kaurismaki.
The Hall’s Gap Film Festival, in its 32nd year, takes place at Victoria’s Grampians National Park from November 18 to 20.
Festival organiser Janet Witham said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Le Havre.”
Other films on the programme include The Kid with a Bike, which won the Grand Prix at Cannes this year, Sundance Festival winner Buck, and the Australian made mining doco Last Stand at Nymboida.
Last Stand at Nymboida’s director, Jeff Bird, will introduce the film.
