I’m a Celeb’s first elimination pulls 816,000 metro viewers

The first elimination episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! season seven had 816,000 metro viewers, with 780,000 tuning in for the rest of last night’s episode.

The elimination portion of the episode – the first to be a challenge, with pre-recording precluding the usual live voting as in previous seasons – was sandwiched between Seven News (998,000 metro viewers) and Nine News (791,000).

The fourth test between Australia and India brought 763,000 metro viewers to Seven for its third session, 680,000 for the tea break, 671,000 for the second session, 515,000 for the first session, and 508,000 for lunch. The test cricket ran from 11am to 6pm, followed by Seven News.

After the news, the Big Bash aired from 7pm to 11pm, with the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades match-up attracting 471,000 metro viewers on Seven.

It was a close race last night among the three commercial networks, who finished just 1% apart in network share. At the bottom of the pile was Nine on 25.1%, followed by Ten on 25.3%, with Seven victorious with a 26.3% share.

The ABC sat on 14.9%, and SBS 8.3%.

For the week, Seven finished ahead with a 32.7% share. Nine sat on 23.2%, and Ten on 19.3%. The ABC ended the week a few percentage points behind Ten for a 15.8% share, and SBS had 9.1%.

Four Seven News broadcasts were the most-watched programs of the week, while the test cricket took out another four places in the top 10.
