I’m A Celebrity and Gogglebox boost Ten’s share to 17%

Ten’s entertainment offering boosted the channel’s share to 17% last night, beating Nine’s 16.3%, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

The absence of Nine’s Married at First Sight in the 7:30pm time slot, saw I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here attract 659,000 while the elimination managed 705,000.

Gogglebox: Viewers watching viewers helped Ten to a win

Nationally, I’m A Celebrity’s audience rose to 933,000 for the full show and 994,000 for the elimination episode.

It wasn’t able to steal the audience from Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, which achieved 1.043m in the metro cities and 1.613m nationally, but it did beat Nine’s RBT, which averaged 475,000 across the five metro cities and 706,000 nationally.

Gogglebox delivered a strong audience at 9pm for Ten, with 692,000 tuning in. It was the most-watched program in its time slot and had a national audience of 986,000.

Seven’s 2018 Australian Swimming Championships coverage did not feature in OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings top 20. The coverage averaged 307,000 across the metro cities, at 464,000 nationally.

Overall, it was Seven which dominated Thursday night, at 22.7%. That share can be attributed to both MKR and another news and current affairs win. Seven News pulled in 896,000, while Nine News managed 833,000.

On the multi-channels, a repeat of Under Siege 2: Dark Territory grabbed Australia’s attention, raking in 158,000. The biggest share in the multi-channels came from 7Two, at 3.6%.

ABC’s most-watched program of the night was its news, at 637,000 metro viewers. ABC’s main channel share was 11.3%, ahead of SBS’ 4.4%.

Earlier on in the day, Seven’s Sunrise beat Nine’s Today with metro audiences of 473,000 and 389,000 respectively.
