‘Imagine a world where you only hear from men’: Deloitte promotes diversity in campaign via Y&R Sydney
Celebrating diversity and the importance of inclusion are the themes of Y&R Sydney’s campaign for Deloitte Australia featuring staff members and Melbourne community performance group ‘THE CHO!R’.
The launch video showcases how disjointed organisations, communities and businesses would be if certain groups didn’t have a voice.
The campaign asks people to imagine a world where they only hear from men, those with authority, or from one sexuality, and encourages viewers to stop and “listen to a voice we haven’t heard before”.
The video was directed by The Sweetshop’s Youness Benali, who said his own experience illustrated the messages in the piece: “I’m a Swedish man, raised in Stockholm, but I’m not blonde and my eyes aren’t blue.
“I don’t look like the stereotypical Swede, because I was born to Moroccan parents. Diversity has always been at the centre of my life and I offer my utmost respect to Deloitte for championing and shining light on the huge importance of diversity.”
Deloitte chief marketing officer, Matt McGrath said: “It has been very exciting to do something that’s really fresh and different. Deloitte is one of Australia’s most innovative businesses, we always want to push boundaries and we believe this film says something new and different and that it will resonate with all Australians.”
Margaret Dreyer, senior partner and Deloitte’s national diversity and inclusion leader added: “It is our firm belief that our values of respect and inclusion enable us to deliver the very best solutions to solve our clients’ most complex issues.”
The campaign will be used internally as well as externally marketing how Deloitte can help other businesses meet their diversity, inclusion and leadership needs.

The film is set in an echo chamber. How wonderfully ironic.
What about a dissenting voice, from the other side of politics? Just to mix it up a bit, you know, all that obsession with skin colour and genitalia. Now that would be brave, original and important.

I see that Deloitte and Nylon have a good gender mix in the credits.
Y&R seems to have 9 males and 5 females credited.
Imagine a world where you hear mainly from men.
