In Marketing We Trust makes changes to leadership team, creates advisory board

Following last week’s appointments, In Marketing We Trust has announced a series of changes to its leadership team to “accelerate global growth and scale delivery”. It has also announced its inaugural advisory team, made up of industry heavyweights.

Founder and current chief innovation officer, Freddy Chanut, has transitioned to executive chairperson, where he will lead board-level strategy and try to grow the agency’s international presence.

The digital marketing agency currently has a headcount of 84 across Australia, Singapore, Europe, and North America. Chanut will focus on expanding the European, Northern American, and Southeast Asian teams.

CEO Paul Hewett has also shifted slightly in his role, turning his focus to the external. He will aim to deepen engagement with clients, global partners, and industry bodies to lead the agency’s product, innovation, and AI strategy.

On the operations front, digital director Selina Murray has moved into the newly-created role of chief operating officer, while Andrei Inso has been promoted to revenue operations manager. He will report to Murray.

Murray has been with the agency for five years, having joined in 2020 from Dentsu’s iProspect. According to a release, she has been “instrumental” in scaling internal operations to meet growing client demand, particularly across Australia and Asia Pacific.

Inso’s role is also newly defined. He will be responsible for forecasting, proposal scoping, margin modelling, and resource planning for core functions underpinning sustainable performance and client delivery.

Hewett said the new management structure will give In Marketing We Trust the “leadership depth and operational clarity” to move at pace, but with intent.

“This is a pivotal moment for the whole industry and we’ve been hard at work reshaping our business to help clients make the most of the transformation happening around them,” he said in the release.

“These changes are about setting our highly able team up to build for what’s next and doing it in a way that’s sustainable, focused and ambitious.”

The changes come a week after the agency announced a series of client wins and senior hires. It was appointed by TPG Telecom for the Vodafone, Felix, and iiNet brands, as well as Grab, OCBC, and Bark.com.

To support the new business wins, the agency named Atomic 212’s Matthew Todd as its new head of performance media, and appointed new SEO specialists Ethan Wong and Zoe Sharry.

As part of a new governance initiative, the digital agency has also created an advisory board, designed to support long-term strategy planning and agency evolution.

The advisory board, upon launch, includes Andrew ‘Billy’ Baxter, former Publicis and Ogilvy CEO and founder of 24 Hour Business Plan; Monique Harris, CEO of Convo Media; and Damion Brown, founder of Data Runs Deep and former MD of Jellyfish ANZ.

Baxter will advise on brand positioning, board governance, and growth strategy, tapping into his decades of experience in guiding agencies and ASX-listed businesses. Harris will support scalable operations, revenue strategy, and commercial design, while Brown will advise on data strategy, service innovation, and capability development.

“Bringing Billy, Monique and Damion onto our inaugural advisory board is both an honour and a strategic necessity,” Hewett said.

“These are visionaries who’ve worked at the top-tier of our industry – and their confidence in us matters. They will actively pressure-test our growth decisions, challenge our assumptions and ensure we don’t outgrow our purpose as we build in scale.”
