Indeed and people2people looking for Australia’s best office dog

Hiring platform Indeed and recruitment company people2people are searching for the country’s best office dog, in the third annual OZTOPDOG competition.

A recent poll commissioned by people2people found that 53.7% of employees would be more likely to come into the office each day if they were allowed to bring their dogs, with 60% more likely to come in if they knew there would be a dog there.

Dogs in the workplace

Indeed’s research found 30% of Australians adopted a pet in the last three years, as the pandemic saw more people working between home and the office.

With this mind, the OZTOPDOG competition is looking to crown Australia’s Top Office Dog, described as the canine that best “demonstrates a commitment to improving the work lives of their human colleagues.”

There’s also a separate ‘Top Dog With A Job’ award, as well as a people’s choice award.

“Since the rise of remote work, dogs at work and dogs that work have been well recognised for their positive impact on our mental health,” says Catherine Kennedy, people2people Recruitment’s Managing Director.

“In the last three years of this campaign in Australia, we have received countless entries showcasing how dogs can improve your wellbeing, whether you’re working from the office or from home, and this is without mentioning the contribution of working dogs.”

Indeed’s Marketing Director Rachael Townsley says, “Given the proven positive impact dogs have on people inside and outside of the workplace, we’re thrilled to be a part of this meaningful initiative and are excited to see the entries roll in.”

Humans can nominate a canine co-worker at oztopdog.com.au. Entries close on August 14, and the winners will be announced by people2people during the Live OZTOPDOG Awards Ceremony on August 25.
