Interbrand creates Newtown Flicks Film Festival trailer
Sydney design agency Interbrand has created the trailer for the 2012 Newtown Flicks Film Festival.
The clip was written, directed and shot by Interbrand to promote the festival and its call for entries. The agency also created the accompanying poster art.
Chris Doyle, design director at Interbrand, said: “Our work for Newtown Flicks is more than a labour of love. It’s driven by the belief that our smaller arts clients deserve the same opportunities to impact their audiences as our larger corporate clients. And it’s so satisfying to be able to produce, edit and deliver a piece of film that is not only cost effective, but also celebrates what is at the heart of the festival itself — the growth and encouragement of young independent film makers in Australia.”
Newtown Flicks’ director, Martin Kelly said: “Newtown Flicks is launching its 6th season and the 2012 festival looks to be the best one yet. However, we could not have possibly achieved all that we have to date without the consistent support of Chris Doyle and all our friends at Interbrand. Their poster design and film clip for this season’s festival are more than we could have ever have hoped for.”
The call for entries is now open, until 6 July.

SNORE. It couldn’t even keep my attention until the end, and I *want* to know more about the festival.

That was genuinely terrible. I get the premise but my god, 1 min of it?!? Sad because this festival sounds so promising.

That’s funny, I was only saying the other day that there’s not nearly enough short film competitions for Bondi and Inner West 5D wielding hipsters.

sigh.
The Newtown festival website has no info of deadlines, no indication of when the films will be aired, no mailing list, search is broken, major typos (FFS! FAQ’s, with an apostrophe? really?), and the best bits, the list of films and their creators, buried on a third tier navigation you won’t find till you mouse over it.
Their money would have been better spent on good Information Architecture and SEO than a snoresville trailer.
