Dr Mumbo

It’s hard to get good help… that won’t report you to SafeWork NSW

Perhaps this post should have been called, “Did she just call her employees imbeciles?” Anyway…

It’s a candidate’s market right now. Media and marketing businesses are struggling to fill roles which, two years ago, would have drawn a line outside the fancy office doors a kilometre long with great applicants.

Most businesses are doing everything they can to keep their current employees and make it work for both parties while we ‘get through this together’.

But it seems like the latest Sydney-lockdowns were the straw that broke the camel’s back. Or the straw that broke Sweaty Betty’s back, anyway.

Dr Mumbo was interested to see PR agency founder and media personality Roxy Jacenko post a notice from SafeWork NSW to her Instagram alleging that workers had “…not been allowed to work from home in line with public health orders without consultation or a reasonable practicable review being conducted”.

Also noted was the extremely harsh penalties SafeWork NSW has slammed down on the business. “SafeWork NSW has determined an inspector will not be attending the workplace to make further enquiries…”.

Nevertheless, Jacenko was not shy in sharing her opinion on Instagram of the people that may have alerted SafeWork NSW to the situation in the first place, with plenty of feedback, from both passers-by and notable media personalities as well.

“I have had 2 visits from the Police and now this letter – enough now,” she mused. “I wonder if I stopped paying the wages of these imbeciles who are making these reports of me apparently flouting the rules they might change their tune…”.

Oh to be a fly on that, allegedly employee-filled office, wall.
