‘It’s time to branch out on my own’: Amazon Web Services communications head steps down and hints future plans
Amazon Web Services ANZ head of communications, Cameron Craig, has announced his resignation and shared plans to “branch out on [his] own”.
With an impressive 20-year career spanning leadership roles in communications at major tech companies, including Amazon, Apple, Visa, and PayPal, Craig has left a lasting mark on the industry. Notably, during his decade at Apple, he worked closely with founder Steve Jobs.
Craig shared his next steps on Wednesday, stating he is available for media training, project-based PR, and assistance crafting stories. However, it remains unclear whether he plans to establish his own company or work as a freelancer.
“I’m also planning to get back to writing and speaking opportunities. My passion is sharing how communication can be a key driver of business success,” Craig said in a LinkedIn post.
“In my decade at Apple under Steve Jobs, comms helped turn the company around. Let me share simple learnings from that time and my entire career that can help your organisation too.”
Craig also gave a special thanks to cartoonist Tom Fishburne, who he referred to as the Marketoonist, for creating a cartoon tribute that he shared alongside his farewell message.
