J Walter Thompson scores John West creative account

J Walter Thompson’s Melbourne office has won the creative account for John West and has become the agency of record for the entire Simplot brand.

Cummins&Partners was John West’s incumbent agency, however had to relinquish the account after the agency won the Kraft Heinz and Golden Circle account last month.

Kraft Heinz owns Greenseas Tuna and has competing products including canned vegetables.

A spokesperson from Cummins&Partners, said in a statement to Mumbrella: “We have enjoyed great success and thoroughly enjoyed working with John West over the last few years. However, our recent wins across McCain Foods, Kraft Heinz and Golden Circle have opened up many categories where there is competition with Simplot and we have worked closely with Suzanne and the team to address this. We wish them all the best in the future”.

JWT will now work acrossJohn West, Leggo’s, Birds Eye, Lean Cuisine, I&J and Chicken Tonight.

Michael Godwin, JWT Melbourne’s managing director, said in a statement: ““From day one, we’ve found the Simplot team to be a delight to work with. They’re smart, respectful of our point of view, they believe in investing in their brands, they want to play an active role in the development of a campaign and are extremely well qualified to do so.”

Suzanne Harman, general manager of marketing at Simplot, said: “JWT has consistently impressed us with their strategic contribution, the quality of their creative and the depth of their team’s engagement across all aspects of our business.”
