Jason Lonsdale leaves Saatchi & Saatchi for NY role with independent agency Mekanism
Saatchi & Saatchi’s head of planning Jason Lonsdale has left the agency after just under four years for a role at New York independent agency Mekanism.
Lonsdale joined the agency alongside CEO Mike Rebello and executive creative director Damon Stapleton in January 2012, with the trio helping steady what was a creaking ship.
Last year he was on the credits for the much-awarded Penny the Pirate campaign for OPSM, which also won two of just four Gold Effie awards handed out this year.Lonsdale was also the chairman of the Communications Council’s Account Planning Group, and this morning J Walter Thompson’s executive planning director Angela Morris named as his replacement today.
Stapleton left the agency in April 2014 to take up the ECD role with DDB New Zealand, leaving Rebello as the final remaining member of the trio at the agency.
Saatchi & Saatchi has been contacted for comment.
His new role at Mekanism, which counts clients including Pepsi, Amazon and Starbucks on its roster, is chief strategy officer.
Smart guy, all the best for the new gig in NY Jason.
