Jetstar crowns Australia’s best non-surfer, via Thinkerbell
Jetstar and Thinkerbell have collaborated on a surfing competition where only people who can’t surf participated.
Taking place on the Gold Coast, the Jetstar Classic competition saw the titular airline issue a nationwide call out for surfing amateurs to compete in a wave-riding contest where the winner won a trip to Hawaii.
Having been flown to the Queensland city by Jetstar, the three chosen contestants – Matt ‘Roamin’ Ranga’ and Catherine ‘Grom Grandma’ from New South Wales, and SJ ‘Surfer Jet’ from Victoria – were watched by professional surfers Jesse Starling and Vaughan Blakey.
Overall, the event’s purpose wasn’t to see who could surf like a pro – it was about celebrating the country’s love for the beach.
“The Jetstar Classic was a celebration of having a go and enjoying the ride, no matter your skill level. With the lowest airfares and incredible destinations, Jetstar have made it easier than ever to pack your bags and get outta here,” said Thinkerbell’s head tinker, Belle Thompson.
Surfer Jet was named the winner of the Jetstar Classic.
