Julian Cole appointed to NY strategy role at BBH

julian_coleJulian Cole, previously at The Conscience Organisation in Sydney, has landed a big job in the US as strategy director at ad agency BBH New York.

Cole will work as lead digital strategist on brands including Axe, Sprite, British Airways and Baileys.

He told Mumbrella: “It is a really exciting time to be in the States. Agencies had stripped their staff back through out the GFC and now they are building them back up to deal with the new communication landscape.”

BBH is one of the most respected agency brands in the world with offices in London, New York, Singapore, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Mumbai.

Cole’s appointment comes less than a fortnight after fellow Aussie Mark Pollard – previously with McCann Sydney – became global planning director for Lenovo at Saatchi & Saatchi New York.

Cole told Mumbrella: “I really think that there is going to be a really surge of Australian planners/strategists who will make the move over here. The timing is right, the market has definitely bounced back from the GFC, the E3 visa works a treat and the market loves Australians.”

The E3 visa is available to Australians working in speciality roles in the US.

Before working at TCO, Cole was one of the founding staff at now defunct Photon social media agency The Population. He also writes the AdSpace Pioneers blog.
