Yankovich has also worked at Buzzfeed Australia and Are Media. Stott said he was delighted to welcome Yankovich to the team.

“I’m so excited to have Gyan taking the reins at Junkee Media. She brings a wealth of experience to the role, and will be an incredible leader as we embark on an exciting new phase for the business,” said Stott.

“Gyan has a proven track record of creating exciting, engaging content that youth audiences love, and she’ll be an incredible asset as we explore new and innovative ways to reach young Australians via the Junkee Network in 2021 and beyond,” he said.

Yankovich said she was looking forward to continuing Junkee’s growth in her new role.

“I’ve been a long-time reader and fan of Junkee, Punkee, and AWOL and am incredibly excited to be part of this new chapter for the company,” Yankovich said.

“I learnt a lot during my three years in New York, and am so excited to bring that knowledge to Junkee Media, and the young Australians who trust us to consistently deliver them clever, relatable, and inspiring content. I’m thrilled to be joining such an innovative and talented team, and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Junkee owner Ooh Media recently restructured its content division, moving the youth publisher into its creative and marketing department and appointment co-founder and CEO, Neil Ackland, as chief content, marketing and creative officer.
