Justin Graham promoted to global head of advertising at M&C Saatchi

Chief executive officer of M&C Saatchi Group ANZ, Justin Graham, has been made global head of advertising network, the first to be appointed to the role.

Graham will remain group CEO across the region, however his new role will see him define and lead a global, unified advertising proposition for the group. This will also include building out core capabilities within M&C’s key regional hubs, and helping drive forward its global client base, the group reveled today at its Capital Markets Day event in London.

This comes after “significant organisational change” over the past 18 months, as well as investment in technology to “drive collaboration and connection for clients”.

“‘Saatchi’ is one of the most famous brands in advertising,” Graham told Mumbrella. “People outside of advertising have heard of Saatchi. This new role is about bringing together a team to collectively deliver a new narrative, a new chapter for the M&C Saatchi advertising brand globally.”

“Today the M&C Saatchi advertising network is a collection of locally relevant advertising businesses, designed to service the unique needs of their market. Varying in capability and scale.

“Moving forward we will offer a unified global advertising proposition, where the sum of the parts will be much greater than the whole.”

“There has never been a more interesting time to evolve this part of our business and work with the deep world-class specialisms we have within the network.”

CEO of M&C Saatchi PLC, Moray MacLennan said the aim of the group is to create a frictionless global advertising network. “Agile. Seamless. Borderless.”

“Justin has been at the forefront of creating not only Australia’s leading creative agency, but one of the leading agencies in the world. His focus will now be on delivering on our ambition.”

Graham joined M&C Saatchi in 2014 from Droga5 Sydney, after stints at BBDO New York and Leo Burnett, then succeeding Jaimes Leggett as group CEO in 2020.

In his new role, he will work closely with MacLennan and global chief growth officer, Wendy Dixon.

Since taking the helm locally, the group said Graham has driven unprecedented growth and deepened leadership in key specialisms. This has included the appointments of Paul Hutchison and Michael McEwan as the new media and advertising CEOs within the group. Krystyna Frassetto was also made managing director of M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment during this time.

Last year, Brett Dawson, founder and CEO of Bohemia, which was acquired by M&C in 2017 was appointed to a global role in London to help accelerate the group’s media and commerce capabilities.

The group is looking to replicate the local integrated model onto a global scale. Graham will predominantly be based in Sydney, in a hybrid working model.

In 2022, M&C Saatchi faced several failed takeover attempts, from its biggest shareholder, Vin Murria’s AdvancedAdvT, as well as digital marketing group, Next Fifteen.
