Taboo adds general manager amongst suite of hires

Melbourne-based indie agency Taboo has made a number of senior hires and promotions, elevating Kate Prowse as general manager.

Prowse’ promotion comes as she returns from maternity leave, having been with the agency for more than eight years, most recently as client services director.

In the new role she will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the agency.

“New year, new vibe. Looking forward to bringing a fresh perspective and energy to the business, surrounded by a team of brilliant, talented humans,” said Prowse.

Taboo has also brought in former freelancer Melba Gounas as a full-time creative director, bringing with her significant experience across Icon Agency, VMLY&R, Thinkerbell and Affinity.

Gounas said: “There’s a lot of talk about harnessing the power of creativity. TABOO has always stuck out to me as an agency that marches to the beat of its own drum and where anything is possible. I’m keen to put our minds where our mouth is and get it done.”

Elevated to the strategy director role after five years with the agency is Tatum Ambler, while Sarah Shaw has been promoted to senior account director.

Taboo has also welcomed new group account director Lauralee Cuzner, who has previously worked at Leo Burnett, Host and M&C Saatchi while Tom Fitzgerald joins the creative team as an art director.

Taboo’s managing director, James Mackinnon, said: “On one hand these appointments represent an injection of exciting new talent – and on the other it’s about recognising and rewarding loyalty and longevity, two things that should never be taken for granted. We’re excited to have this amazing line-up of progressive and modern thinkers to keep our agency and clients at the forefront of culture and communications”.

The changes follow 12 months of growth for the agency, which has recently added Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Starward Whiskey, 7-Eleven, Lavazza and ‘Up’ to its client portfolio.
