KFC gets too hot and spicy

KFC this morning sent out the following tweet:

KFcFor those unfamiliar with #NSFW it’s an acronym for Not Safe For Work.

Dr Mumbo wonder if KFC should have taken its own advice as the brand rapidly deleted the tweet but not before a flood of social media criticism.

In a statement, KFC said: “This was a genuine tweet to launch KFC’s new Hot & Spicy chicken products next week. It was not intended to offend and we’ve removed the image.”

Sometimes things can get a little too hot and spicy…

Update 12.00pm:

Dr Mumbo couldn’t help but notice this highly suspicious ad placement on Pedestrian.TV:

KFCCould it be the tweet was just PR stunt? Surely KFC wouldn’t play chicken with us like that?

Then again, as UK PR guru Rob Cooper said at CommsCon last year, posting controversial tweets and deleting them a few minutes afterwards was a great way of giving the press something to write about.
