KFC knows you can’t spell Colonel without a colon
KFC has learned the hard way you can’t spell Colonel without a colon.
Dr Mumbo for one can’t wait to sample a bargain bucket from there now.
At least the seagull looks like it’s going to enjoy those hot chips.

Update December 11: It appears the good folk at Manly’s KFC have now pulled down the ad hoarding at the behest of the council, according to the local paper the Manly Daily.
Manly, one of Sydney’s jewels. What will tourists see the moment they step off the ferry, into paradise? A fcking Kentucky Fried Chicken shop ffs! I bet the beach and wildlife will love the litter too. Colon indeed!

This is actually a campaign about Tony Abbott spending more time in his electorate.

“What will tourists see the moment they step off the ferry?”
They’ll probably see McDonalds, Subway, Nandos, Aldi, Gelatissimo and Guzman Y Gomez – just a selection of the shops before you even get to that KFC site.
Talk about a storm in a teacup. But by all means, rage away at nothing.

Bit rich, Mumbrella making a joke about a spelling mistake.

Fast food rubbish in tourist destinations is actually a real concern. Especially in the Blue Mountains, where most fast food chains known for their rubbish have been kept away from the upper mountains. Still see maccas bags on the street driven up from Glenbrook and thrown out the window around Katoomba though.
Too late for Manly though..

Hi Jill,
thanks for the comment. However I must point out it’s not a spelling mistake – it’s a bit of vandalism which has had some unexpected consequences on a piece of marketing.
On the other hand we’re a website producing thousands of words per day, mistakes inevitably happen unfortunately. Typos in ads with 9 words which have been through various levels of approval are a quite different I’d argue.
Cheers,

My dad’s colon smells really nice when he sprays it in the morning.

@ Faux Outrage (comment 3)
They’re there so it’s okay.
In the council meeting, where many, including some councilors disproved of the location of the KFC, the council couldn’t make a ruling as it was simply the exchange of a piece of commercial real estate.
People are trying to clean up Manly and forge a thought out, well planned, nice experience. Unlike every other sad town in the Western world. No ‘faux’ at all.

Stuck up snobs wanting to complain about having their guilty pleasure on their own doorstep… Don’t worry.. we won’t cry “Hypocrite” when we see you chomping on the Colonels goodies after a night on the pinot.
Get over yourselves.. Manly is a tourist trap like any other in Sydney, no better, no worse.. let the rabble have their chicken.
